New Gutters

What this involves.

Gutters are the reason water leaves the house instead of sitting against the foundation, and in this part of Texas that matters more than it sounds. The clay under these subdivisions swells when it takes water and shrinks when it dries, and a downspout emptying next to a slab is one of the ways that cycle gets concentrated in one corner of a house.

Seamless gutter is run to length on site, so the only joints are at corners and outlets. Hail dents gutters and downspouts even when it leaves the roof alone, which is why they get counted as part of a claim, and why it is worth having both done together rather than a year apart.

How It Works

01

The inspection

We get on the roof and photograph what is up there. If it will not carry a claim, that is where this stops, and it has still cost you nothing.

02

The claim

If it is worth filing, you call your carrier, because it is your policy and they will only talk to you. We put the photographs, the measurements and the scope into the form an adjuster expects.

03

The adjuster

When the adjuster walks the roof we are there to answer the scope questions and hand over the estimate, so the damage gets counted once instead of argued about after the check arrives.

04

The work

Roof first, then whatever else the claim covers: the gutters, the fence, the garage door, the ceiling the water came through and the paint over it.

Before You Call

New Gutters, answered.

Should gutters be replaced at the same time as the roof?

If the hail dented them, yes, and your claim will usually cover both. Doing it in one visit also avoids somebody working over new gutters with a ladder.

Do you install gutter guards?

Ask during the inspection. Whether they earn their cost depends almost entirely on what is overhanging the roof.

What size gutter do I need?

Most homes here are fine on five-inch. Large roof areas draining into one run, or a steep pitch that throws water fast, are the cases where six-inch is worth it.
