What this involves.
Most leaks are not the field of the roof failing. They are a penetration: a pipe boot that has gone brittle and split, a chimney or wall flashing that was never sealed properly, a valley that has been carrying more water than it was built for, or a nail that backed out and lifted the shingle above it. Finding which one it is takes getting up there and following the water backward, because the stain on your ceiling is almost never under the hole.
A tree limb coming through the roof in a spring storm and putting a hole through the ceiling underneath is a repair, and the ceiling is part of it. So is the drywall and the paint, if you want it back the way it was.
How It Works
The inspection
We get on the roof and photograph what is up there. If it will not carry a claim, that is where this stops, and it has still cost you nothing.
The claim
If it is worth filing, you call your carrier, because it is your policy and they will only talk to you. We put the photographs, the measurements and the scope into the form an adjuster expects.
The adjuster
When the adjuster walks the roof we are there to answer the scope questions and hand over the estimate, so the damage gets counted once instead of argued about after the check arrives.
The work
Roof first, then whatever else the claim covers: the gutters, the fence, the garage door, the ceiling the water came through and the paint over it.

Can you match my existing shingles?
Usually close, rarely exactly. Shingles weather, and a color run from eight years ago is not the same color today even if the name on the bundle is. On an elevation that faces the street, that gap is worth looking at on the roof before the repair rather than from the sidewalk afterwards.
Is a repair worth it on an old roof?
Sometimes not, and that is a conversation about how many years are left rather than a sales pitch. A four-hundred-dollar repair on a roof with two years in it is money well spent. The same repair on a roof with two years left is not.
My ceiling is stained but I cannot see anything on the roof.
That is normal. Water travels along decking and rafters before it drops, so the stain can be several feet from the entry point and on the other side of a wall. It is one of the reasons a repair starts inside.
Do you charge for the diagnosis?
No. Coming out and finding out what is wrong costs nothing, including when the answer turns out to be that nothing is.
